Business School Holds First National Core Teachers Seminar of Economics of E-commerce

From 6th to 9th January 2011, the first national ?core teachers seminar of ?economics of e-commerce was held in the Peihua Meeting Room of Business School, Sun Yat-sen University. Sponsored by the Special Committee of Basic theory of China Information Economics Society and the Research Center of Information Economics and Policy of Sun Yat-sen University, the seminar was organized by the Business School. Approximately twenty teachers from eight universities attended the seminar. They came separately from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Jimei University, Guangxi University for Nationalities, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangdong University of Technology, Wuyi University, Guangdong Ocean University.

Initiated by Professor Xie Kang, Instructor Xiao Jinghua Xiao and Doctor Li Li organized the seminar, which aims to share the course teaching concept and method among core teachers of information economics and E-commerce economics, promote discussion on forefront academic issues and discuss the promotion of teaching to research.
??????At the seminar, Professor Xie Kang gave a detailed introduction of the theory development of information economics and E-commerce economics and guided the present teachers to discuss teaching method Xiao Jinghua talked about her own teaching experience on the two subjects. She summarized the teaching arrangement and course design, teaching experiment and course encouragement with great passion. Professor Tao Changqi of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics gave a speech on modeling theory and method of information economics; he introduced the basic mode and research basis of Information modeling. Through his speech, the teachers in seminar gain a better understanding about model. Doctor Li Li of our school shared his modeling concept and method of E-commerce economics, which enhanced the teachers’ understanding on theory concept and model of E-commerce economics.
???????Apart from sharing of course teaching and summary of teaching experience, the teachers discussed kinds of obstruction in teaching and obfuscation on teaching-research relationship in the seminar. Meanwhile, they also communicated many precious skills with each other on many issues in connection with the differences among students of different universities. Those issues includes: individualization of teaching design; explanation of theory model and math skills, transformation from complex theory to comprehensible teaching experiment and so on. The teachers still wished to continue this communication even at the end of the seminar.

The teachers expressed their thanksgiving to the seminar in the guestbook. They all expected more seminars like this. “In the seminar, I learned a lot in two aspects. Firstly, it is the knowledge of information economics; secondly, I learned how to be a good teacher on instruction of knowledge and study attitude from Xie Kang ?and other teachers of ?Business School. They showed me both knowledge teaching and talent cultivating.” said Professor Huang Kaiming of Jimei University. The associate professor Gu Yonghong ?of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics said: “I hope the seminar can be continued next year, and I will recommend more teachers to be here for communication..”
