1.The Overview of the journal:
China Journal of Accounting Research (CJAR, Chinese: 中国会计学刊, ISSN: 1755-3091) is the first international English academic journal specialized in publishing Chinese accounting research. It was co-founded abroad in 2008 by Sun Yat-sen University and City University of Hong Kong, published by Elsevier - the world's largest publisher of scientific literature, and operated in accordance with the international publication mode. The editors-in-chief of the journal are professor Jong Bon Kim of City University of Hong Kong and professor Wei Minghai of Sun Yat-sen University. Since 2012, CJAR has officially developed as a quarterly journal. Currently, CJAR has been included by 2018 ABS Academic Journal list, Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), Cabell’s Director, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Scopus, Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) Journal Quality List and Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) Journal List.
2.The features and purposes of the journal:
CJAR encourages the papers using international normative research methods to research on the capital market issues in China (including Hong Kong, Taiwan and other cross-markets), countries along the Belt and Road and other emerging markets. In terms of research methods, CJAR encourages the application of economic theories to research and explain accounting issues, so as to strengthen people's understanding of accounting issues; And CJAR encourages to start with law and institutional environment, etc. to have detailed and accurate description of accounting, auditing and financial issues in China's capital market environment and the institutional environment on which financial operation depends. Papers that can be accepted by CJAR must have unique insights and contributions in helping people understand the institutional environment of China's capital markets and the corresponding accounting or financial issues.
3.The conferences hosted by the journal:
CJAR hosts two influential academic conferences every year, the Summer Research Workshop organized by the City University of Hong Kong in July and the CJAR Academic Conference at the end of the year, and the Special Issue Symposium is also organized in due time. CJAR has repeatedly invited well-known scholars from foreign accounting academia to give keynote speech on the topic of cutting edge research of accounting. Currently, CJAR has been widely recognized by the accounting academia at home and abroad, and has become the most influential international academic exchange platform for researching Chinese accounting and financial issues.

4.The inclusion of the journal:
Since its first issue in 2008, CJAR has gradually evolved into one of the influential international academic journals on Chinese accounting and financial issues. From 2013 to 2018, on the Science Direct database platform, the number of CJAR papers downloaded globally reached 58,487, 133,509, 153,694, 145,690, 189,142 and 212,677, respectively. According to the official data of Web of Science (as of November 2016), papers published by CJAR had been cited 66 times by SSCI articles. Based on the citation times of CJAR, Elsevier analyzed and calculated the impact factors of CJAR from 2013 to 2015 as 0.1875, 0.0909 and 0.25 respectively. To estimate with CJAR's 2015 impact factor, according to the 2015 "Journal Citation Report" (JCR), CJAR could rank 85th in the SSCI international journals classified by Business and Finance.
In 2016, Elsevier released the Scopus index - CiteScore, which evaluates the quality of academic journals. The CiteScore index evaluates more than 22,000 journals in 330 discipline fields from more than 5,000 publishers included in the Scopus database. CiteScore refers to the average number of citations of a single article published in a journal. Specifically, the CiteScore value for a particular year in a journal is the number of citations in that year of articles published in that journal over the past three years, divided by the number of articles published in that journal in the past three years and included in Scopus.
Since 2016, Elsevier has been evaluating the quality of CJAR journal more accurately through the CiteScore index. According to the official data of Scopus, CJAR's CiteScore index for 2014-2018 were 0.59, 0.82, 0.90, 0.75 and 1.53 respectively. In 2018, among 130 international academic journals classified by Accounting, CJAR ranked 82nd in the CiteScore Index rankings.
In 2016, CJAR was officially included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI). ESCI is an emerging resource citation index database of Thomson Reuters following the three traditional databases of SCI, SSCI and AHCI. CJAR was officially included in ESCI, which means that CJAR has been recognized by ESCI in academic and journal influence, and meanwhile, CJAR will lay a more solid foundation for tracking analysis and evaluation through SSCI evaluation in the future.
In 2018, the Scientific Committee of the Association of Business Schools (ABS) has completed the evaluation of CJAR, and CJAR has been included in the journal directory of ABS Academic Journal Guide 2018 edition with a score of 2.
