School officials express sincere appreciation to Asian Games volunteers

On the morning of November 20th, Tan Jinsong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Business School, Dai Honghui, Deputy Secretary, Chen Rongrong, Deputy Secretary of the League Committee, Yang Xiaohui from Career Planning and Alumni affairs Office and Wu Jialin from Student Affairs Office came to the east campus gymnasium of Sun Yat-sen University, visiting Asian Games volunteers and talking cordially with the volunteer representatives.

At 11 am., Tan, Dai and other officials arrived at the SYSU gymnasium and received well-prepared gifts from the ?volunteer representatives. Starting from the security inspection section and following the volunteering service procedure, they inspected the volunteers’ work at ?each operation section in the SYSU gymnasium. During the visit, they learned about influences the volunteering work had exerted on the volunteers’ daily life and study through cordial talking. The volunteer representatives replied that although the volunteering work was tough, it was very honorary and pleasant to make a bit of contributions to ?the smooth operation of SYSU gymnasium.

Tan and his delegation also visited those volunteers at rest in the lobby and learned the volunteers’ schedule, telling them to keep a balance between work and leisure and pay attention to physical and philological health. Suggested by the volunteer representatives, Tan and Dan made inscriptions on the “volunteers’ wall”. Tan also wrote down “come together to have more fun” on the “Volunteers’ Inner Words”. At last, Tan and his delegation took some group photos with volunteers.

Inspired by the ?teachers’ warm care, the volunteers decided to work harder with more passion, making their slight contribution to the success of Guangzhou Asian Games.

Previously, the School have held a series of activities to care for the Asian Games volunteers, making considerate arrangements for logistic guarantee for volunteers’ life, study, and work, so as to prepare them better to work.

Earlier in the end of October, ?the Student Affairs Office have started to organize ?activities regarding caring about ?volunteers. Initiated by the commissaries in charge of studies, an on-line learning platform was set up to help those volunteers with their studies. Dorm mates within each dorm tried to make the dorm a warm home for those volunteers. Youth League Students Union planned and prepared volunteers’ special columns and videos display to record their dribs and drabs in daily life and work and to carry forward Asian Games Spirit and devoting spirit.

With the care and support of from the School, the volunteers said that they will promote volunteering spirit, adding luster to the Asian Games.
