With his over 32 years of leadership experiences in global higher education and international business between East and West, he has insightful observations and interpretation about what happened in the last 35 years between West and East, notably China and how a university/firm can be well positioned in the 21st century. He has been an advocate of liberal arts education and passionately striving for creating inspiring, innovative and entrepreneurial campus that he referred as three “invisible campuses”. He has been instrumental in transforming such a firm vision into reality with passionate and relentless insistence on (1) the integration of Western management with Eastern philosophy and (2) the integration of world class research with teaching and learning in global higher education and (3) the integration of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship with business management. In the last 10 years he has been frequently requested to provide strategic advices, leadership coaching and support to senior management teams in pursuing strategic organizational changes in universities and business/management schools in the East and the West. ?

He holds degrees cross-disciplinary. He earned a BA in English Language and British and American Literature and History from Henan University in 1982, a MA in Construction Management and Building Economics from Southeast University in 1992, and a PhD in Management from Northumbria University, UK in 2001.

Brief Introduction to the seminar:

The world has changed dramatically in the last 35 years. The big events, such as, the start China's economic reform in 1978, the collapse of the former Soviet Union in 1991 and the burst of the financial bubble on Wall Street in 2008, changed the world and subverted people's mind-set and made a huge impact on their judgement. The twenty-first century is an era of contending, reflection and re-thinking, and an era that calls for great wisdom and great strategy.

What is the great wisdom and the great strategy? It is West Meets East: Integration of Western management with Eastern philosophy. Dr Richard Li-Hua, with his West and East background and profound research knowledge, will share his thoughts on addressing the challenges and opportunities between West and East and how our MBA candidates can draw insights and benefit from these.?
